Kapuso Network GMA7 has released an official statement regarding with the news of Vhong Navaro's extortion. The Network was being linked to the issue due to the alleged relationship of Denise Millet Cornejo, the girl involved in the incident, to its own CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon. Reports indicate that Cornejo is the grand daughter of Gozon. Hence, contrary to the report, the Network insists Cornejo isn't related to the latter.

This is to clarify that the complainant involved in the Vhong Navarro incident is not related to GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon.
From the moment GMA News learned of the story, it sought the side of Vhong Navarro. Roño, his manager, gave GMA News a written statement, which was aired yesterday. Today, GMA News aired an interview with Navarro’s lawyer Atty Alma Mallonga. The report about the alleged attempted r*** was based on the blotter filed at the Investigative Section of the Southern Police District where Vhong Navarro was taken after the incident. Other news organizations also reported it.
The official statement has been released upon the ignition of the Twitter hashtag "#GMAPhilippinesWorstNetwork" which became a trending topic for hours. It was due to netizens' reception on the way of GMA News' report about Navarro's story. They claimed that GMA News did a "bias" reporting on Navarro's assault.
Meanwhile, the speculation on the relationship of the Network and Cornejo has been originated on Facebook, where the latter's alleged account posted a photo, showing her and Atty. Gozon together in an event, with a caption: "with my lolo rod of GMA7 with lolo att. gozum"
The "lolo rod" she indicated is actually her grandfather, named Rod Cornejo, the president of GMA for 20 years.
